New Online Resources
HeritageHub - we are excited to announce a new online resource that patrons may access for free with their library cards. With Heritage Hub, patrons may browse a collection of obituaries and death notices from all 50 states dating back to 1704. Click the link on this website to try it out. And we also have Current Biography (delivering up-to-date biographies of men and women of contemporary importance since 1940) available now - look under the "Links" tab to find it.

Telescope Available for Checkout
Thanks to the generosity of the Greater Hazleton Area Astronomical Society, the library now has an Orion StarBlast 4.5 telescope available for checkout. Patrons may borrow the telescope for one week by asking at the Reference Desk. It can only be checked out on an adult’s library card. Borrowers will also receive an instruction manual, red light flashlight, and various stargazing maps and guides.

Summer Reading Club
The Hazleton Area Public Library invites children and teens from birth through age 18 to join its free Summer Reading Club. Registration begins Monday, June 8 and will remain open throughout the summer at the main library and all branch locations. Club members will track their reading over the summer while enjoying a variety of free programs and events offered by the library, including storytimes, crafts, games, and other activities designed to keep children active, engaged, and learning while school is out. Participants must be registered members of the Summer Reading Club to attend activities. This year’s Summer Reading Club theme is Dinosaurs, promising a season full of fun and discovery. The library is also proud to be the recipient of a Pizza Hut Slice of Literacy grant, which will help fund additional programs and activities throughout the summer.
