ONCE UPON A TIME
By
VIRGINIA ADAMS
Once upon a time-
Don’t you wish life could start
That way?
Once upon a time,
A child was born,
A couple was married,
She got into college,
He discovered the cure for-
Once upon a time-
I wished life could begin
Like the storybooks I used to
Read.
There could be
Knights in shining armor
And princesses in danger
And I could be in the middle of
Everything.
Once upon a time,
I hope everything will
End like the storybooks.

ONCE UPON A TIME
By
Rachel Bernardyn
Once upon a time
I walked through a land
That cast out an everlasting light
I saw my whole life before my eyes
Saw my future in the black velvet night
I gazed out upon the sea
Searching for a brand new hope
To bring earth together as one
For water & sky to cope
In the air I watched the stars
Come falling down as rain
Through the sun I watched drift by
My joys, despair, laughter, & pain
In the end I walked into
This everlasting light
My spirit is new, my soul is whole
Everything now clear in sight

HOME
By
Stella Burnham
Home has always been
My special place, because there
Is so much fun, and
Excitement, I
Love helping at home, whether
It’s outside work or helping
In the house, whatever it is
It is always fun and exciting
That’s what I love about home.
I love being home schooled
Because it’s where I’m comfortable
And I have so much more free time.
That’s why home is special to me.

ONCE UPON A TIME…
By
Brittany Denke
Once upon a time somewhere
Far away from here
Not anywhere close not anywhere near
There was a land
It looked like a beach but with
A lot more sand
The water was blue & the sky was
Clear
A dolphin type mammal leaps
Out of the water with no fear
It jumps again & turns into a mermaid
It swam out farther away & started
To fade
Something tapped me on the
Shoulder
I turned around & there it was
Standing on a boulder

I NEED
By
Amanda Gipson
I need my past
And my family’s too
To guide me in all that I do
I need my future to give me hope,
That this is not the end of my rope
I need my home to give
Me a beacon when I roam
I need this pen so I may
Write these words again
I need,
I need books to tell me where to look
To escape for a while into
A deserted mile
I need, I need this
I need I need
I have

INSIDE MYSELF
By
EJ Keiper
When I take a gander inside myself
I discover many things sitting on my mental shelf
I find the things placed up high
Are my family, friends, and memories of a simpler time
I look at my ability to smile
The need to be listened to for a little while
A constant longing for something new
And living life without a clue

What I see now are flickering lights warm and red, dancing upon the ceiling. As I look to the window a soft, white snowfall, silent and complete as it lays on the ground or rests upon the windowsill.
When I breath, crisp air fills my lungs; yet it is not cold, but a clear warmth that touches my heart with an everlasting glow.
I can feel the sense of belonging as I gaze outside the window at white pinnacles of heaven’s glory.
They are as sharp as glistening spears that pierce the surrounding sunset.

I woke up one morning, got ready for school.
It was about 5th period when I saw this strange person walking the hallways.
I asked to be excused.
When I went to see who the person was.
They introduced themselves as Thomas Pendleton, the co-owner of Hart & Huntington Tatoo Shop.
I couldn’t believe it. The bell rang while I was still out in the hallway. Then when I went to talk to Thomas, he was gone just like that.
When I got home he was there, but the problem was that only I could see him.
I asked him why only I could see him, and his response was “because you need someone to help you.”
At first, I thought I didn’t need help, but then I realized I was lying to myself.
So a week went by before Thomas told me I needed to make 3 wishes to help myself. What a sweet man!
After thinking for about 5 minutes, I told him what I really needed:
1.) I want to become a person who can help another.
2.) I want to become happy in life.
3.) I want to do something right for once.
When I told him my 3 wishes, he said they were granted. Then he disappeared.
Two weeks passed, nothing happened. Then one day, I find myself being accepted into college as a mental health counselor. I was thrilled!
I graduated from college. I went into the best place you can work as a counselor.
I finally got it. My 3 wishes were granted.
This might not mean anything to you, but my 3 wishes mean a lot to me.

IN A FAR AWAY LAND
By
Destini Petruzzi
Once upon a time in a far away land
A girl lived in a mansion that was quite grand.
She had riches galore for the world to see
It seemed she had everything, but she was still lonely.
If only she could trade her riches away
And live like a normal person…just for a day;
But that wasn’t possible because she was so well-known
Everyone knew all that her family owned.
One day a revelation lifted the fog.
Her parents solved the problem by buying a dog.
And in conclusion of this little tale,
You don’t need a human to cure you if you’re lonely.

OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD
By
Brittany Plesce
Huge Dreams
Stupid Fights
Sleep all day
Out all night
Friends all over
Good time around
I feel so safe
I can’t hear a sound
Broken hearts
Mascara Tears
Cell Phone Bills
Report Card fears
This may sound stupid
Be that as it may
This is what
Popped into my head today
