How To Apply For A Library Card

Any resident of the Hazleton Area School District OR Luzerne County is eligible for a library card at no charge upon presentation of proper identification. The signature of a parent/legal guardian is required for children under 18. Your library card may be used at any member library of the Luzerne County Library System, provided you have it with you at the time of checkout. Non-Residents of the Hazleton Area School District and Luzerne County may apply for a card at no charge if their hometown library participates in the Access Pennsylvania program. Library cards are also available to Non-Residents who do not participate in the Access Pennsylvania program for an annual fee of $25.00.

Acceptable forms of identification: Current, valid photo ID (driver's license, non-driver's ID) OR TWO of the following: checkbook, utility bill, credit card statement, vehicle registration, or vehicle insurance card.

Directions

From The North -- Take Route 81 South to Exit 143 - Hazleton Route 924. Turn left onto Route 924. At the second traffic light, turn right onto Broad Street - Route 93. At the fourth traffic light, turn left onto Church Street - Route 309. The Library is on Church Street, at the intersection of Church and Maple Streets, two blocks north of Broad Street.

From The South -- Take Route 81 North to Exit 141 - Hazleton South Beltway. Turn right onto Route 424 (Beltway). Turn left at the traffic light onto Church Street - Route 309. The Library is on Church Street, at the intersection of Church and Maple Streets, one block past the fourth traffic light.

From The East -- Take Route 80 West to Exit 262 - Hazleton Route 309. Turn left onto Route 309 South. Route 309 becomes Church Street in Hazleton. The Library is on Church Street - Route 309, at the intersection of Church and Maple Streets, about six miles from the interstate.

From The West -- Take Route 80 East to Exit 256 - Conyngham Route 93. Turn right onto Route 93. Route 93 becomes Broad Street in Hazleton. Turn right onto Church Street - Route 309, about ten miles from the interstate. The Library is on Church Street, at the intersection of Church and Maple Streets, two blocks north of Broad Street.

POWER Library

The POWER Library is offered as a service of Pennsylvania's public libraries, school libraries and the State Library. The POWER Library allows you to access full text magazine articles, photographs, pictures, charts, maps, reference materials for young people and more. You will find materials of interest in most subject areas for all age groups from young children to adults.
