On Your Mark, Get Set, Read

The Summer Reading Club is open to students who will be entering grades one through twelve in the fall. Membership is free. Students need only to have a valid library card and come in with a parent (or legal guardian) to sign up. Registration will begin Monday, June 13th and continue throughout the summer. Younger children are eligible to join HAPL’s Read-To-Me and Toddler Read-To-Me clubs. Contact your local library for more information. To be eligible to attend programs or storytimes, children must be enrolled in the Summer Reading Program. When you sign up for the reading program, you will receive a reading log to use throughout the summer. You may begin using the reading log the week of June 13th. To complete club requirements and earn finisher status, you must read 15 minutes a day, 32 times. Friday, August 12th is the last day to complete club requirements. All finishers will receive certificates, be invited to our Open House, and will be eligible to receive prizes.

READ-TO-ME Preschoolers and Toddlers can also participate in summer reading programs at the Library. The main and branch libraries will host Read-To-Me (RTM) clubs for children ages 4, 5, and 6 who have not yet entered kindergarten. To be eligible to join the Preschool RTM, children must be 4 years of age at registration. We will also offer a Toddler Read-To-Me (TRTM) club for children ages 2 and 3. To be eligible to join the Toddler (TRTM) club, children must be 2 years of age at the time of registration. You must pre-register to attend storytimes and activities.

The last day to complete RTM and TRTM club requirements will be Friday August 12th. All Read– To– Me finishers will be eligible to attend the Open House and will earn certificates and be eligible to win prizes.
