 2017 Tax Forms
Hazleton Area Public Library serves as a distribution point for federal and state tax forms. 1040, 1040A, and 1040EZ forms have arrived, as well as 1040, 1040A and 1040EZ instructions and some PA tax forms. To order tax products to be delivered by mail, phone 1-800-829-3676. To view and download forms, use irs.gov/orderforms.

Spring Music in the Air
Hazleton Area Public Library is pleased to present a very special spring concert with classical guitarist, Robert Dopira. His spring program will focus on classical,  popular, and Broadway music. The spring performance is scheduled for Friday, April 6th at 6:00 in HAPL’s Community Room (Green St. Entrance). The library will be closing at 5:00, so all attendees will have to enter on the Green St. side of the building. Mr. Dopira won a scholarship to the Roman Festival Orchestra in Italy to perform in their summer performance program. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in performance, and completed his Master’s Degree courses. Spring Music in the Air is open free of charge to the general public, but reservations are required. To place reservations, please contact HAPL’s reference desk no later than Saturday, March 31st.

Senior Wellness
Hazleton Area Public Library will host a senior wellness program on Saturday, April 21st at 10:00 in its community room (Green St. Entrance).  The presenter will be Marijo Penkala, director of the Hazleton Active Adult Center. This program will cover topics such as easy and safe ways to remain active as we age, nutrition trips and tricks, and other valuable resources available to seniors in the Hazleton Area. Penkala has over thirty years of experience working toward the betterment of life for seniors in the Hazleton Area. Reservations are required, and may be placed by phoning HAPL’s reference desk at 570-454-2961.

Spring Storytime
Toddler Storytime, for children currently ages 2 and 3, is offered Wednesdays at 10:30. Toddlers must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. Preschool Storytime, for children ages 4-5, is offered Wednesdays at 6:00. The six week session of Preschool Storytime incorporates many facets of early learning and school readiness. For more information, contact the Children’s Department at 570-454-2961.

Earth Day Teddy Bear Picnic
Saturday, April 21st is the day before Earth Day, and the day the teddy bears have their picnic. Children ages 4 and up are invited to join us for an indoor picnic with their favorite stuffed animal, action figure, or doll. The program begins at 2:00, and we ask that your child bring a towel to sit on. We’ll have some fun activities and light snacks to celebrate Earth Day with our toys. Registration begins Monday, April 9, and can be made by contacting the library’s Children’s Department at 570-454-2961.

Children ages 8 and up will experiment with different forms of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math with fun activities. It is a three-part series that takes place Monday evenings from 6:00-7:00. The program dates are as follows: “Basic Coding” April 9th, “Bubbles, Bubbles, Bubbles” April 16th, and “Math Art” April 30th.  Registration begins today. Bank on It
Are you a teen in grades 7-12 who wants to know more about banking, checking accounts, savings accounts, or budgeting? On Tuesday, April 24th at 6:00, Bettie Sitoski from PNC Bank will be coming to the library to discuss basic financial information that will help you begin a successful financial future. Parents and guardians are welcome to join their child. This program is free. Registrations will begin Tuesday, April 10th. Please contact the library’s Children’s Department at 570-454-2961 to sign up. The deadline to register is Tuesday, April 17th.

Money Smart Kids
On Wednesday, April 25th at 6:00, the library will have stories and activities that will teach children ages 4-7 some fundamentals about money and spending. Registration for the program begins Tuesday, April 10th. Please contact the library’s Children’s Department at 570-454-2961 to sign up.
